Vivaldi's Venetian Masquerade

This was a fascinating event and a spring fundraiser for the Sinfonia.

Held on Saturday, April 26th, it featured superb chamber music and other entertainment (tumbling, juggling), as would befit a nobleman's court. Lavish catering was provided by "Simply Smooth".

Our guests - many of them representatives of the Lehigh Valley arts and civic communities - were very well entertained!

The Event Committee did a wonderful job: The fabulous entertainment (thanks so much, Debbie!) gorgeous decor (Kathleen: you're brilliant!) and the wonderfully organized and beautifully displayed silent auction (Arjana and Elaine - long lost "sisters"!) were individually and collectively fabulous!

Connie lent her "social savvy" by coming up with a wonderful seating arrangement - with everyone feeling cozy and welcome in a otherwise cavernous room.

Special thanks to Percy for his generosity, incredible expertise, and charming delivery of his wine auction. Cheers!

Kudos to Kiki for her tireless effort in collecting (too many - as it turns out!) cakes for the sweetest nightcap ever.

Laurin Fegley (Simply Smooth) lived up to his company's name by delivering what we asked for ("and then some...") smoothly.

Those of you who missed it, we're so sorry! You just haven't lived till you've dined under a five-foot-tall silver candelabra with a tumbler spinning head-over-heels past your table! We hope you'll join us next year.

The final concert of our 25th regular season featured our annual visit from pianist, Michael Gurt, on Saturday, April 5.

What an amazing concert concluded our stellar 25th Anniversary Season. "Gurt Plays Rach 2". Now, there's an understatement!

The two encores: Chopin's Nocturne and The Banjo Player by Louis Gotschalk brought the audience to their feet (again...and again.)

Thank you Michael, for gracing us again with your amazing talent.

That excitement came on the heels of a positively transporting experience: Cheryl Bischkoff's solo in Ralph Vaughan Williams' "Oboe Concerto" brought us the romance of the English countryside in high summer. What a serene and lovely performance (and performer!)

Speaking of lovely: "Valley Vivaldi" season is very nearly upon us, so reserve your tickets now for one of the Lehigh Valley's signature summer events.

Come September, you've just got to see local piano prodigy Vivian Wang! Bring your kids, your grandkids, the neighbor's kids, anybody who loves kids!... Dr. Birney, her teacher, tells us Vivian is someone to watch (and we know of Dr. Birney's ability to identify young talent!)

In fact, one of those young talents comes back to us in November. Gavriel Lipkind will be the featured performer at our November Gala, which will include "Ecce Cor Meum" a composition by Sir Paul McCartney (yes - of the Beatles and yes - he's been invited, so who knows? ...) There will be Gala Special Tickets available, but the only way to ensure your seat is if you subscribe!

See you at the Sinfonia!
