Even though we have returned to live performances, it is a luxurious thing to be able to listen to music by Sinfonia musicians whenever you like. Eighteen Sinfonia string players gathered in Christ Lutheran Church in Allentown to record these luscious romantic pieces for our listeners. Allan Birney Retires; Leadership Transition With pride, deep respect, and exceeding gratitude for his musical legacy, we announce that Allan Birney, Founder and Music Director of Pennsylvania Sinfonia Orchestra will step down from the podium at the end of this season, after 50 years as a champion and standard-bearer for fine classical music in the Lehigh Valley. That legacy is poised to continue with vigor under the baton of new Music Director Paul Chou, who will assume the position beginning with Sinfonia's 2022-23 season. Paul Hsun-Ling Chou, conductor and violinist, has been featured at numerous international venues and his virtuosity has been described as “stunning, combining electric energy and tenderness.” He has concertized extensively throughout North America and abroad, having performed as a conductor, chamber musician, and soloist in North and South America, Asia, Europe, and Africa. click for biography Photos: copyright 2020 John Kish IV
