Our newest venue, Allen Organ's Octave Hall in Macungie, has been declared a rousing success by the musicians and the audience. You know you are doing something right when you have to set up additional chairs (fortunately the floor plan is open and allows this) and quickly reproduce extra copies of the program because of the influx of audience. July 18th's concert was a delight - the ambience was warm and intimate, the acoustics were excellent, the audience was attentive and appreciative and the musicians were at the top of their form. This is the opinion of your webmaster, but I'm sure the critics will agree. This is what Philip A.Metzger had to say about the June 27 concert in Octave Hall and here is what Steve Siegel said about the July 18 concert.
Your next opportunity to check out this venue for yourself will be at our regular season opener on Saturday, October 2.

Revelations
Saturday, March 5, 2011 - 7:30 PM
Soloist: Meta Weiss, cellist
Octave Hall, Allen Organ Headquarters, Macungie
Bach - Sitkovetsky Goldberg Variations
Grieg - Two Elegiac Melodies Op. 10
Haydn - Cello concerto in C
Terrific young cellist, Meta Weiss, will join Sinfonia for Haydn's Cello Concerto in C. A unique rendition of J.S. Bach's the Goldberg Variations with a complete orchestration of the keyboard work by Sitkovetsky will also be featured. This musically challenging and gratifying orchestration brings out details not readily heard in the keyboard versions. The individual lines (especially in the canons) are more audible to the listeners through the various timbres of the instruments, as well as matching the lines heard to the visual aspect of that line being performed by the instrumentalists. The acoustics, visibility and smaller venue at Allen Organ's Octave Hall will augment this aspect and heighten the audience's experience. Grieg's Two Elegiac Melodies Op. 10 will also be on the program.
